Scientists at Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah and collaborators at the University of Utah Health have undertaken research that provides insight on the complex process that characterizes the development of human sperm stem cells.
The first of its kind, the study analyzed the changes human stem cells go through as they mature. Published in the journal Cell Stem Cell, these findings affect the understanding of male infertility as well as cancer development.
The study showed that prior understanding of sperm stem cells had been too limited, and that the process is much more complex.
