An analysis published in the Journal of Cancer shows a link between pesticide use during pregnancy, particularly insecticides, and an increased risk of childhood brain tumors.

The results of this study further emphasize the need to advise mothers to limit exposure to pesticides around pregnancy. Many pesticide compounds are classified as probable carcinogens with evidence that some can reach the fetus.

The study found that pesticide use increased the risk of childhood brain tumors 1.4 times.
