A study undertaken by the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania has shown a link between fertility and mortality in women. Compared to those who did not experience fertility struggles, women with a history of infertility have been found to have a 10 percent increased risk of death.

This Penn study examined the association between infertility and mortality, together with specific causes of death. The research also discovered that women with a history of infertility have a 20 percent increased risk of cancer-related death.

Previous studies have linked fertility and mortality amongst males but none had examined the link for females as robustly.
